Home Right-Step Scout Soldier Pyro Demoman Heavy Engineer Medic Sniper Spy

Right-Step Alternate Universe - Scout

Character Details

Takes his role very seriously, perhaps too seriously. Not as fast as he used to be due to impending Old Age. The main Information Getter of the team. Often seen hastily defenestrating himself with some rude or snarky remark. Constantly bickering with Soldier over stuff, although neither of them will explain to the other mercs why they antagonise each other so often. (That's not to say, of course, that none of them have figured it out.)

Used to work in more covert operations, but was always a little too fond of flashier things, and this ended up pushing him towards operations that, if initially stealth-based, didn't tend to stay that way. He had a hand in raising his son, but was never particularly good at the whole "fatherhood" thing. He and Soldier are - fine. Not great, but at least they don't spend all their time yelling at or insulting each other. Just some of it.

He's not quite so fast as he used to be - it comes with age, of course, and the build-up of smoke in his body that lab-grown lungs can only do so much for. That doesn't matter too much, though; even if it's a precarious operation, he can be quick when he needs to be, and his main drawcard was always in being unseen, not uncatchable, anyway.

Notes

It occurred to me that Canon!Spy is pretty fast even in his old age, and his style of going after valuable targets and quickly taking them down is sort of reminiscent of Canon!Scout, just less in-your-face obnoxious (although. He's certainly obnoxious in other ways). I don't remember if he was the first character I started filling out ideas for, but he's certainly the one I think of when I think of this AU.
In case you're wondering, "Nestor" means something like "returner" or "homecomer" and "Villeneuve" eventually resolves to "new town".

Upsetting Loadout

By combining the Dame Liberte, the Dove, and the Frenchman's Flail, you can reach a maximum speed of 26% + 26% + 40% + 107% = 199%. This is, to put it mildly, bad. However it is also very funny, so I refuse to rebalance it.

(Actually, it can get even worse, since Soldier's Demoraliser also adds an absolute 33% buff, leading to a maximum speed of 232%. But that relies on the Soldier actually cooperating, and since when do kids listen to their parents?)
