Right-Step Alternate Universe - Demo

Character Details

Seems to think big booms are cooler and thus better (are they wrong?). Wears heavy protective gear to avoid backlash from the explosions. Has taken to putting glitter in the bombs (whether this makes them better or worse is your decision). Doesn't talk a lot but seems very enthusiastic.

For such a mysterious figure, Demo is hardly reclusive. They show up everywhere: in the kitchen pouring food dye into milkshakes, in the labs jerry-rigging various explosive devices, outside digging worms out of the soil to feed to the various birds found sitting around the base, and standing next to every contested area on a battlefield with a conveniently-placed trap and one finger on the detonator.

After battles, Demo prefers to seek out quiet, darker places to sit around in. It's not a permanent thing - just a bit of respite. After the rest, Demo gets up and goes back out to where everyone else is, and while they aren't loud like the other mercenaries often are, their presence makes up for it.

Notes

Pyroland is always a bit of a sticky situation, especially with how inconsistently it's depicted in the source and its implications. I like the idea that RS!Demo is actively altering the inputs they see the same way you might turn on Pyrovision for giggles, or because you like the 2fort sewer water brownish-green for some reason. Cure your nervousness by imagining the enemy running around in their underpants, or whatever.

Art

Various fully coloured drawings of Right-Shift Demo. They use a slightly different design to the image at the top of the screen, with a brighter and more contrasting colour scheme. One image shows Demo, as noted by a caption, staring directly at a welding torch. Another shows Demo walking away from an explosion with a speech bubble emitting a smiling face, as those caught inside scream and bemoan the presence of fire in stickies. A third shows Demo from the knees up, with one hand on their hip, another holding a stickybomb launcher at shoulder height, and a smiling face drawn on a sticky note and taped to their visor. Finally, one image, captioned War! replicates the image seen in canon TF2 featuring Soldier and Demo. In this version, Right-Shift Soldier is wearing a red camo cap and two stripes of black war paint, while Demo has a frowning face painted onto their visor in runny black paint or ink.
