Home Right-Step Scout Soldier Pyro Demoman Heavy Engineer Medic Sniper Spy

Right-Step Alternate Universe - Pyro

Character Details

It is unclear whether he has more or less military experience than Soldier, but he claims to be properly trained in using flamethrowers to "flush out the enemy". Slightly too fond of his phlogistinator. Says that the dull red and blue of his flame is because it's for the glory of America.

For someone so loud, it's unsetting how the yelling only seems to appear when things are already on fire. Throwing his own weapons back at him doesn't work; he's only partially fireproof, and mediguns won't put it out, but he's perfectly at home sending sparks everywhere and essentially becoming a walking hazard. He says it makes him look scary, which is true. That's not entirely a good reason for it, though.

For someone who spends most of his time trying to burn things as thoroughly as possible, his cooking is surprisingly good. Not objectively good - beans and ship's biscuit casserole is never going to be a restaurant-worthy dish - but surprisingly good.

Notes

The thing about Canon!Soldier is that he's genuinely a very effective combatant, which tends to get swept up in the wayside. If you take it from a purely mechanical perspective, things like Market Gardening and Rocket Jumping are pretty incredible feats, and even just moving around with the huge rocket launchers is a pretty big deal. So, RS!Pyro is therefore also scarily effective as a Pyro. Some of his weaponry is pretty obviously improvised, but I think that adds to the charm of it.
The design choice to have the top half of his face visible rather than the bottom scared me a bit, but I think I'm fond of it, now.

A Complicated Plan

I don’t believe using one Detonator to set an enemy on fire, and using the second as an explosive jump to crit-and-afterburn is an exceptionally viable attack strategy. However, I do believe it is a funny one. The hypothetical damage output of such a strat is 60 + 30 + 50*3 = 240, which outpaces Market Gardens in-game by 45.
